UFC COACH Terry Riggs was the first Canadian to ever Win National Championships in both BJJ and Muay Thai; Terry is a Canadian & Ontario Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion as well as North American & U.S.A. Full Contact Muay Thai Champion. Riggs opened the First Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Canada in the Mid 1990’s in Newmarket and was instrumental in the development of the sport in Canada.

Coach Riggs has produced Multiple World Champion Athletes competing at the largest, most prestigious, MMA Shows; UFC Worldwide Events, Pride Fighting Championships Japan, IFL (International Fight League Fox Sports), Shooto (Japan), Impact FC (Australia) and W1 (Canada). Riggs was chosen as the Japanese National BJJ Coach for Team Japan vs The Legendary Gracies at the Pride Fighting Championships International Event in Tokyo (50,000 in attendance).

Recognized as a true industry expert and pioneer, Riggs has done colour commentary on numerous MMA Broadcasts for Fox Sports & TSN. He is a mentor to numerous school owners across Canada and has produced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA curriculums used in over a 1000 Academies worldwide. Terry teaches right here in Newmarket On.

Renzo Gracie

Renzo is a 3X World & ADCC Champion; they are the most prestigious titles in BJJ. He beat 5 UFC World Champions in his career and his family is famous as the originators of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Renzo has fought all over the world for MMA organizations such as UFC, Pride Fighting Championships Japan & One Championship. He pioneered Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in the United States in the 1990’s when he founded the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City, being one of the cornerstones of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in America. Today RGA has over 70 active affiliates across the globe that all work together to deliver the world’s best Jiu-jitsu system.

He has established himself as one of the most renowned BJJ instructors and mentors in the sport with his signature combination of charisma and intelligence. Renzo has guided UFC champions such as Matt Serra and Frankie Edgar, Roger Gracie (10x BJJ World Champion) and John Danaher the Jiu-jitsu coach to UFC Champions Georges St-Pierre & Chris Weidman and 5X ADCC Champion Gordon Ryan. Renzo is based at our famous World Headquarters in Manhattan New York.

Carlos’ professional competing career lasted over 20 years in only

As the 1st Canadian UFC World Champion and first non-heavyweight to ever headline International UFC & PRIDE FC JAPAN events, he is truly considered a Legendary MMA Pioneer of the sport. Featured in your favourite UFC video games, a fan favourite, Carlos is one of Canadian’s most successful, well known, Mixed Martial Artists ever!  Carlos teaches right here in Newmarket ON as well.

Carlos Newton is a UFC WORLD CHAMPION and PRIDE FC JAPAN MMA Legend. Only 2 Canadians have ever won the coveted UFC World Championship title so far; that is Carlos Newton & Georges St-Pierre. Carlos was Canada’s first UFC World Champion & a World Wide MMA sensation for a generation.

Carlos’ Amateur career was highlighted by Multiple Canadian BJJ Championships and he was the first Canadian ever to be invited to compete in the prestigious ADCC World Submission Grappling Championship. Carlos, a kid from Newmarket, represented Canada and faced a member of the famous “Gracie” family for the first time; quite a feat at only 19 years old.

OUR HISTORY

Sometimes the greatest of friendships and bonds are formed through respect as competitors and peers; such is the case with Renzo, Terry and Carlos. Throughout their MMA journeys these men constantly found themselves in the same prestigious organizations. They first met at the Extreme Fighting event 1996 and then went on to travel and compete together for the UFC & Pride Fighting Championship Japan and finally as Coaches for the IFL (International Fight League). Renzo coached the New York Pitbulls and Terry & Carlos the Toronto Dragons on Fox Sports’ IFL.

Through their 25 year of interactions and numerous direct event competitions they realized they wanted to work together through mutual respect and admiration. Carlos & Terry were welcomed by every major Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organization in the world but both agreed ONLY Renzo would do as a mentor.

Renzo and the Gracie Family were huge inspirations in our careers; Renzo is certainly one of the most respected leaders of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu on the planet.
